Port Barcares Activities

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is a basically flying a kite whilst attached to a surf board - we can’t offer much more adrenaline than this – the air time looks amazing and the tricks extreme.  Recognised in 1998 with only 30 enthusiasts, kitesurfing is the quickest growing sport ever. However, it doesn’t come without its dangers hence a week learning the sport in warm water and sun, within a beautiful setting is obviously a good starting block for beginners. For those that have had the opportunity to become proficient / experienced kiters, then a week fine tuning your technique in this fantastic location is one not to be missed.

Port Barcares offers a sheltered lagoon where you can become proficient in launching your kite and learning to control your direction. The bay area is world renowned for kite surfing so needs no introduction.

Windsurfing

Port Barcares is a windsurfing paradise. With shallow water and more than 280 days of wind per year, it's no surprise that Port Barcares is one of Europe's best known areas for windsurfing, and is perfect for both beginners and experts alike.

The windsurfing spot is known as La Coudalére and is around a 10 minute walk from the UCPA centre. It's ideally located to take advantage of the prevailing winds and the shallow water and sandbars in the water allow the perfect place to rest, or to learn your first beach start!

Testimonials

  • Having never used UCPA before I was not sure what to expect but the week I spent there was absolutely fantastic and I genuinely can’t wait to go back.

  • Imagine moules mariniereier, steak (cooked how you like it) and paella just to name a few options during our week and you get a picture of how well fed you will be at UCPA.

  • UCPAs are like an upmarket hostel. However, they are always comfortable and if you want to meet people, the rooms of 4-6 are a great way of doing so. Even better is most of the UCPAs have some twin rooms...

  • The food is great and there is tons of it from breakfast, lunch, snack time (after your day on the slopes) and dinner in the evening. My favourite meal this year was on the Thursday evening when it was...

  • Action Outdoors set up a personal group page and as a group leader, I did’t have to worry about taking everyone’s payments. Each group member is responsible to pay their own way through the group page directly to Action Outdoors. Win!

  • The UCPA has its own bar which is slightly cheaper than anywhere else in the resort. It has a pool table, comfy seats and a good atmosphere.

  • There isn’t a part of UCPA that I don’t enjoy, it’s some of the best holidays I’ve had and going to have.

  • One click and you’ve booked everything. No searching around for lessons, ski-hire etc. And the best thing is you can keep adding people to your group.
