La Plagne Ski Area

The La Plagne ski area is largely based around a huge bowl surrounding Plagne Centre with more skiing extending over to Belle Plagne and the Glacier de Bellecote. The area is a very good size with 225 km of piste of all grades serviced by 109 lifts. With much of the skiing over 2000m and many of the slopes north facing the conditions tend to be very good throughout the year and it is considered to be a very snowsure destination.

The lift network in La Plagne is excellent with continuing investment in new technology. During the 2009/2010 season a number of new lifts and replacement lifts were introduced which have greatly improved the overall network. As a result of the superb lift system queues are generally minimal in La Plagne except during peak season. The pinnacle of the lift network is the Vanoise Express cable car which links La Plagne to Les Arcs to form the huge Paradiski ski area, the lift cost 16 million to build and is a 200 person capacity double decker!

If you want to upgrade to the Paradiski lift pass, you can do this at reception when in resort for approximately €30 a day.

La Plagne Pistes

There is a nice variety of skiing around La Plagne, the terrain is generally not too steep with a good selection of runs above and below the tree line. The terrain is ideally suited to beginner and intermediate skiers/boarders with plenty of wide blues and pleasant reds in which to develop your skills and build up your confidence. There is also some great terrain for expert skiers such as the red and black runs on the Glacier de Bellecote.

La Plagne Off Piste

La Plagne is a superb off piste destination if you know where to look! The side country skiing is good (the areas between the pistes) but the really exceptional off piste is hidden away and harder to find. There are some great runs coming off the Glacier de Bellecote but to find the best descents, a guide with local knowledge is required. The best way of exploring the La Plagne off piste is on one of our off piste courses.

La Plagne Snow Park

La Plagne has an exceptional snowpark which at 2.5 hectares is one of the largest in Europe. Known as the ‘7 Cube’ snowpark it has a full variety of features in varying difficulties as well as a great Board-X course. La Plagne also has a full size 90 half pipe located in Plagne Bellecote which is well worth checking out.

  • The food is PHENOMENAL at UCPA – brilliant for those with eyes bigger than their belly.

  • We all appreciate that we are inside one of those perfect moments, heightened by the expectation of another afternoon riding the perfect, untracked powder that our instructor...

  • There is always a range of ages, nationalities, mixtures of solo travellers, couples, groups etc. We have booked as a group of 6, a group of 36 (no joke) and even just me and my boyfriend – it works for all.

  • No matter how hard you try, when you book everything separately (especially with the Euro and price of food at the moment), you will never beat UCPA.

  • Lunch and dinner were epic. Buffet style with delicious and varied options each day and night. Not cheap foods either - Full roast chickens, ribs, roast beef, etc. Unreal!

  • UCPA is a unique and brilliant experience, I would not describe it as a hotel but also not hostel it is somewhere in-between. Its a place where meeting people and making friends...

  • The food offers great variety, choice (several options each night), quantity (as much as you want) and quality is decent (7/10). Cheese and yoghurts coming out of your ears, packed lunch option, afternoon...

La Plagne |

I went to La Plagne in jan on a solo holiday. I was a bit nervous about meeting a load of strangers and was my first time skiing too! Well I needn't have worried. Keryn our rep made us feel really welcome and brought us all together. The UCPA centre was fab. Clean, warm and great food. The views up the piste were just gorgeous. I could not fault the holiday at all. Well organised, safe and loads of fun. I would definitely book through action outdoors again. Thanks guys. I've a new love for skiing :-)

La Plagne | Ski Full Time

This was our second UCPA snow trip and we were once again spoilt by good food, clean accommodation, modern equipment and great snow.

La Plagne, Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Chamonix | Ski Full Time, Ski Off Piste

The UCPA system offered by Action Outdoors was so good that I spent seven weeks in four different resorts with them in 2013. I started as a very basic skier and went all the way to completing an off piste course in that time. Everything about the experience was top rate. The instruction was excellent. The food was delicious with plenty of it. The vibe and philosophy at the UCPA centers was totally compelling. It was a truly unigue experience and there is no way on earth that anyone could match them for value for money.Action Outdoors proved themselves a very helpful and friendly organisation in managing my whole trip.  I will never ski with anybody else ever again. This is the real deal. Thank you UCPA and Action Outdoors.
