La Plagne Town Centre
La Plagne is made up of 11 different villages in the Tarentaise region of France, each with their own style and character. The UCPA centre is located in La Plagne Centre which, as its name suggests, is the main village within the resort. The village is purpose built and not the most attractive in the La Plagne area but its design is very practical and efficient. The main lift access is from here and it is the ideal base to explore the ski area from. La Plagne centre has an excellent selection of shops and services plus most of the nightlife.
For a more picturesque and traditional village experience it is well worth visiting one of the other villages in the La Plagne area. Many of them have had only modest development and retain their original features. A day trip to Champagny en Vanoise, Plagne Montablbert, Montchavin or Les Coches are all highly recommended. There is an excellent free bus network operating between all the La Plagne villages and it operates till 1am. Many are also linked by pistes and lifts or are within walking distance so popping over to another village is easy.
La Plagne Nightlife
La Plagne is not known for its nightlife and is an excellent choice for those after a more relaxing ski holiday. Still, like any ski larger resort, there are a few excellent après ski spots if you search them out. We particularly like:
Plagne Centre:
- La Luna Bar: A great bar which sells towers of beer
- Scotty’s Bar: A great terrace for après ski on sunny days
Belle Plagne:
- Le Saloon Cowboy Bar: A very lively bar with live music and awesome après ski – open till 4am
