Les Arcs Town Centre

Les Arcs is a collection of four modern and purpose built resorts nestled in the woods overlooking the Vanoise National Park. The scenery is breathtaking with stunning views of Mont Blanc on a clear day. Whilst purpose built, the resorts are not unattractive and in recent years there has been significant investment in renovating the look and feel of the resorts. Les Arcs is wonderfully accessible being connected to the nearby Bourg St Maurice by a funicular which takes just 7 minutes making travel by train a breeze.

The villages are known as Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 which are rough approximations of their altitude (except 2000 named after the millennium). The villages are separate but moving between them is easy either by walking, bus or even skiing. The original village is Arc 1600 (where UCPA Les Arc is) which is also known as the friendliest village. It is a nice compact village which has been designed with ski convenience in mind. The villages are also pretty much car free which adds to the pleasant ambience. Arc 1800 is the busiest of the villages and where the best nightlife can be found. In general Les Arcs is a nice quiet and friendly resort with access to some superb skiing, an excellent resort for a more relaxing break.

Les Arcs Nightlife

The nightlife in Les Arcs is pretty quiet and if partying is a priority then other resorts are definitely better. There are still a few good spots though, here are our favourites:

  • Cafe Sol: A lovely little spot with regular live music and a nice après ski scene
  • Abreuvoir: A lively little bar with a nice atmosphere

Testimonials

  • Lunch and dinner were epic. Buffet style with delicious and varied options each day and night. Not cheap foods either - Full roast chickens, ribs, roast beef, etc. Unreal!

  • We all appreciate that we are inside one of those perfect moments, heightened by the expectation of another afternoon riding the perfect, untracked powder that our instructor...

  • UCPA is a unique and brilliant experience, I would not describe it as a hotel but also not hostel it is somewhere in-between. Its a place where meeting people and making friends...

  • The food offers great variety, choice (several options each night), quantity (as much as you want) and quality is decent (7/10). Cheese and yoghurts coming out of your ears, packed lunch option, afternoon...

  • There is always a range of ages, nationalities, mixtures of solo travellers, couples, groups etc. We have booked as a group of 6, a group of 36 (no joke) and even just me and my boyfriend – it works for all.

  • No matter how hard you try, when you book everything separately (especially with the Euro and price of food at the moment), you will never beat UCPA.

Firstly I would definitely recommend Action Outdoors. This is the 5th ski holiday I have been with them and they have always been very helpful even when I have had to change details of members of my party or cancel a person's booking who couldn't go.
