In the heart of the Mont Blanc region at the end of a stunning valley lies the picturesque town of Les Contamines-Montjoie. Although it hosts a surprising amount of fantastic ski terrain around a huge undulating bowl, it is still a secret gem within the Haute Savoie region of France. The farming town has a much more authentic feel to it than the larger purpose built ski resorts and if you are after a relaxing week enjoying some great skiing followed by a nice glass of wine in the evening, then Les Contamines offers you just this.
Often overlooked due to its proximity to Chamonix and Megeve, Les Contamines is a small, friendly resort that offers a surprising amount of skiable area – it is definitely a hidden gem and a perfect location for those who are not after a manic nightlife.
The ski area is outside of the main village but both UCPA and the town provide a regular bus service to link skiers to the main lift station. Once there, the lifts take you as high as the Aiguille Croche at 2500m with pistes covering a vast area of 120km and a vertical drop of 1336m. On the other side of the Contamines ridgeline, you can ski down to Hauteluce les Contamines with its fine selection of friendly blue and red runs.
The UCPA centre in Les Contamines is large and comfortable plus minutes away from the town centre. All the usual UCPA services are on offer including a restaurant, bar, ski room and terrace.
UCPA was originally set up to provide affordable adventure holiday packages for people aged 18 to 39.
Today the UCPA has a wide variety of excellent value ski & snowboard packages for people of all ages.
