UCPA is a not for profit organisation set up more than 50 years ago to encourage young people to participate in outdoors sports and to make the top resorts and quality coaching more accessible and affordable for young people. UCPA has changed a little over the years however the ethos remains very much the same. Therefore although there are some exceptional circumstances and packages, the majority of UCPA courses and holidays have an age restriction of 18-44.

The UCPA has specific exemption from any Age Discrimination Laws in France and Europe due to the ethos behind the organisation. Please read through the Equality Act 2010 for further information. If you are aged 18-44 you can join any adult UCPA course advertised. Otherwise see below for more information on what options are available for you.

The UCPA have made some exceptions to their age restrictions in recent years introducing special courses and weeks to allow:

  • Families on specific family weeks
  • Young people aged under 18
  • Adults aged up to 55 year of age
  • Aged 18–65 on specific ”Relaxed Age Weeks”

To learn more about the specific policy for the exception and to find out what is available to your age group please see below.

Please note that on any given week the UCPA may contain young people aged 16-17 and adults aged 18+, this is at the discretion of the UCPA centre. The UCPA take steps to room minors and adults separately.

Each season we create a few specialist weeks across various UCPA centres in the French Alps whereby most or all of the centre is dedicated only to families. Our family weeks are of very high quality where everything is included in the price.

See available family weeks here

At the moment Action Outdoors and UCPA UK does not offer any specific weeks for young people under 18, except on Family weeks. However these trips are available to book on the French site www.ucpa.com/colos

UCPA have introduced specific UCPA+ courses which have an extended age restriction of 55 years old. Most advanced and expert level off piste courses have the extended age restriction, therefore if you are aged 18 to 55 and are at the correct level for the off piste course you can book this courses.

There are also a number of Ski Coaching, Ski Touring, Ski Progression and Ski Beginners courses with the extended age.

Please use the search function for relevant dates and prices, but please double check the activity description as some of the courses are only available for those up to age 44 in some centres.

Relaxed age weeks are when the centres are open to anyone aged 18-65. These are very limited in number, but all available courses can be booked by anyone aged 18-65 on those weeks.

For this winter season 24/25, relaxed age week for anyone aged 18-65 will be the week commencing 4/1 in Les Arcs (SOLD OUT) and the week commencing 29/3 at Flaine.

Apart from that, in many resorts, and on different dates you can find programmes which are open to anyone aged 18-55, please see below:
